national parks. The animals and the ecosystem surrounding it is
protected diligently but the beauty of it is that it is open for the
general public to explore and look at how diverse and beautiful our
world is.
I
am sure many of you have heard of a few famous national parks in our
country such as the Jim Corbett National Park or Ranthambore National
Park. While they are all very important places to visit, there are many
more reserves in India that will open your mind to new places.
So,
why don’t you start saving your leaves at work and plan your next trip
to one of these lesser known or talked about national parks!
1. Balphakaram National Park
Situated in the beautiful state of Meghalaya, Balphakaram National Park is breathtaking. The state government has also nominated it for becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One can spot animals such as the barking deer, Indian elephant, Asian golden cat and red panda amongst many. 2. Bandipur National Park
A tiger reserve in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park has the second highest population of Tigers in India. Historically speaking it was a hunting ground for the Maharaja of Mysore. 3. Bhitarkanika National Park
Famed for its Mangroves and crocodiles such as the white crocodile and the saltwater crocodile. Located in Odisha, this national park has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Oh! 4. Buxa Tiger Reserve
Nestled in the northern part of West Bengal, Buxa Tiger Reserve also has many other inhabitants other than the tiger. It is a home to approximately 284 bird species that can be found soaring in the sky. A true paradise for the bird watcher in you. There are also close to 37 villages inside the reserve. 5. Blackbuck National Park
As the name may suggest, this is the perfect place for you to go and spot Blackbucks. Gujarat is the home of this beautiful animal. It is home to the largest population of this mammal in India. 6. Dibru-Saikhowa National Park
You must have heard of the Brahmaputra River, well you can see the same here at the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park. Situated in Assam, it has a variety of flora and fauna. The exhaustive list consists of 36 mammals, 18 kinds of reptiles and more than 30 kinds of birds. If this isn’t attractive enough for you to visit this place, then I don’t know what would! 7. Desert National Park
The beautiful state of Rajasthan may come across as very dry to house a national park but they do have a stunning example of it for you to visit. You can spot the endangered bird species called the Great Indian Bustard, which is only found in India. It is a no brainer that when visiting, October to March is the best time to explore in the desert. This is one of the largest national parks in the country and falls between Jaisalmer and Barmer. 8. Gangotri National Park
This national park is one of the most stunning parks you can visit in India. The Gangotri National Park will mesmerise you with its glaciers and meadows as the backdrop to the beautiful wildlife found here. There’s the Snow Leopard that rules the roost in this park and pristine Doves that fly across the crystal clear sky. 9. Gir Forest National Park
We are all fond of the Lion King aren’t we? Well you can find the Asiatic lions here and the hyenas too! Gir Forest National Park is in the dry state of Gujarat. It also has the seven perennial rivers flowing through it. So far around 400 flora species have been recorded at Gir, isn’t that wonderful? 10. Kanha Tiger Reserve
The largest national park in the heart of India, Kanha Tiger Reserve is one of the jewels in Madhya Pradesh’s crown. Apart from the obvious Tigers, you can observe 1000 different species of flowering plants! You can spot hyenas, bears, deer and other such mammals at Kanha. 11. Mollem National Park
Did you know your favourite party place- Goa is also a home to Mollem National Park. This park has a huge amount of variety for the adventurous tourist.
