Man-animal conflict: Leopard enters house, salon in Gurugram's village

On Friday, a leopard entered into a house in Gurugram's Badshahpur village and stayed there for an hour. Following this, the leopard went to a salon from where it was rescued by the wildlife department.

Gurugram: Incidents of man-animal conflict have been surfacing from different parts of the country. Recently, IIT Bombay was subjected to criticism after instances of bulls straying into the campus had come to light. Another incident of man-animal conflict came to light from Gururgam on Friday when a leopard strayed into a house in Badshahpur village at around 3 pm. The people living in the village panicked as the big cat stayed inside one of the houses for about an hour. The residents turned to the police and the wildlife department for help.
After staying at a house for around an hour, the leopard strayed into a salon. Some of the shopkeepers locked the leopard inside the salon as they sought help from the authorities. Over 2,000 people stopped and gathered to witness the rescue operation of the big cat.
After around two hours, the leopard was rescued by the wildlife department. While officials of the wildlife department struggled to rescue the big cat, the police took up the task of managing the traffic. Vinod Kumar, additional principal chief conservator of forest, Haryana said that the big cat had scratches on its face as pieces of broken glass were lying in the salon. He also said that the leopard was rescued without the use of any tranquilizers.

Leopard enters house in Gujarat's Amreli district, runs away with infant

In February this year, a leopard entered into the house of a farmer in Gujarat's Gopalam village and mauled an infant to death. The incident took place near the Sarasiya range of Gir forest in Amreli, Gujarat. The leopard allegedly entered the house and caught hold of the infant.

The infant's grandfather saw the incident and raised an alarm. Locals rushed to help but the leopard sensed the commotion and started running. By the time help reached the infant, it had already died.

Leopard strays into Chittorgarh suburb, sparks panic 

A leopard entered the quiet suburbs of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan in March this year and sparked panic among the locals. The big cat was rescued after a five-hour-long joint operation executed by the officials of the forest department and the police.
The incident came to light after one of the locals saw the big cat on the terrace of a house in Karnimata Khera area of Kumbha Nagar. The locals informed the wildlife department and the police officials about the incident, following which, the leopard was rescued.
