KANPUR:
Asiatic lioness Lakshmi will once against undergo blood test to confirm
that it is fit and can be transferred to Lion Safari - the ambitious
project of the SP government.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav who is expected to visit Kanpur zoo on January 15 would have a look at the pair of Asiatic lions. It is expected that the lions would be send to Lion Safari after the blood test report.
Director, Kanpur zoo, K Thomas said that the blood test of the lioness would be done to check her health status. He added that otherwise the lioness was absolutely fit and fine.
He mentioned that taking the lioness in the seizure enclosure for collecting her blood sample was a difficult task. Once the blood test was done, its report was expected to arrive within a month. Dr RK Singh of Kanpur zoo told TOI that the lioness was completely fine after going for medication last year.
The lioness had contracted fatal bacterial disease leptospirosis last year.
