A video of a lion running between a group of people in a village in Gujarat, India has been posted on social media. Is the 
The seven-second clip was shared on Twitter by Susanta Nanda who is reportedly part of the Indian Forest Service and describes himself as a ‘forester’ in Odisha.
The video that has currently garnered almost 7,000 views, shows the lion trying to run away as a crowd of people stood in its way. As the animal runs, people are seen running away in fear.
The video was taken in Madavpur village of Gujurat, as per Nanda’s caption.
He, @susantananda3, wrote: "Imagine someone charging at you at 80kmp. Even Usain Bolt can't escape (Average speed -38kmp) from a charging lion..."
However, many people pointed out that the lion was not “charging”. Many believed that animal was scared and was trying to get away from the crowd.
Tweep @blueczkfox wrote: “Charging? That's not charging. It's a lion running away, escaping.”
Replying to Nanda’s post, some asked about the lion's safety.
One Twitter user @AiyanaAsin asked: “Is the lion safe??”
Nanda replied; “Pretty safe.”

Lions in Gujarat

The village of Madhavpur is over 100 kilometers away from Gir Forest National Park in Gujarat that serves as a wildlife sanctuary established to protect Asiatic lions.
As per the last census carried out in 2015, Gir forest had 523 big cats, as reported by news magazine India Today.
According to the same India Today report, India’s Legislative Assembly was told last year that as much as 222 lions had died in the forest mostly “due to natural causes”.
