RAJKOT: Facing massive embarrassment and criticism over death of 23 Asiatic lions, the forest department has transferred three range forest officers (RFOs) and brought in 12 foresters to work under chief conservator of forest, Junagadh wildlife.
Mangrol RFO Ruchi Dave has been appointed in the Dalkhaniya range of Gir (east) where the lion deaths have occured. The post of RFO in this highly sensitive range had been lying vacant for a long time. Dave will be the first woman RFO directly recruited in the Gir sanctuary.
CJ Dafda, RFO, Jetpur range in Rajkot circle, has been transferred to the mobile squad in Khambha in Gir east while DK Jhala from society forestry in Mangrol range has been the vacant position of scheme range of Sarasiya.
It is learnt that the 12 foresters have not been given any posting yet.
